This is a technique that I recently learned from a video on YouTube, here's the video that explains it in its best form.
Background & History
I've been using Evernote, Wunderlist, Google Calendar & a bunch of other applications to plan & track my stuff. Evernote has always been a part of my productivity arsenal but with great tools, you need to have good skills & a good workflow to implement them effectively. I was finding it difficult to manage the data & get back to the things that I needed. Also, having data such as to-do, events & stuff of all kind in different apps was making it kind of a difficult venture to get stuff done.
Solution
Develop good routines & patterns that you can rely upon. From the above video one can learn how the narrator has used different bullet points such as check squares, circles, and points for different things such as task, general points to remember.
It is good to have a standard for marking up activities and events. The bullet journal technique displayed in the above video is for pen & paper, but I use it on Evernote & that has helped me in getting organized.
